1989

• Regional Science Centre, Lucknow dedicated to the nation on 7th September by Shri N. D. Tiwari, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Smt. Krishna Sahi, Minister of State, Department of Culture, Government of India.
• Opening of major galleries including “Fluidics”, “Popular Science” and the outdoor “Science Park”.

1995

Inauguration of “Fun Science Gallery” on 20th May with interactive hands-on exhibits designed to popularise scientific concepts through activity-based learning.

1996

• Hosted the internationally acclaimed travelling exhibition “Dinosaurs Alive” at Regional Science Centre, Lucknow from 8th February to 24th March 1996, attracting nearly 2.5 lakh visitors.
• The exhibition featured life-size animated dinosaur models, multimedia presentations, fossil displays and educational activities, creating widespread public interest and awareness about prehistoric life and palaeontology.

2004

Major renovation and modernisation of “Popular Science Gallery” completed with updated exhibits and interactive educational displays.

2005

• Major renovation of “Fun Science Gallery” completed in March with new participatory exhibits and improved visitor facilities.
• Organised temporary exhibition on “Safety to Environment & Health & Service to Industry ITRC” from 28th November to 9th December.

2006

• Organised special temporary exhibition on “Outbreak of Bird Flu” from 27th February to 30th March to spread public awareness regarding health and safety measures.
• Organised exhibition on “Partial Solar Eclipse” on 29th March for public education and scientific awareness.

2007

• Regional Science Centre upgraded as “Regional Science City, Lucknow” and dedicated to the nation on 21st September by Shri Nakul Dubey, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Shri Ingit Mukherjee, Director General, NCSM.
• Inauguration of new thematic galleries “Underwater Exploration”, “Being Human” and “Biotechnological Revolution”.
• Introduction of state-of-the-art facilities including the large-format “SCIMAX Theatre”, “3-D Science Show” and “ Walk through Aquarium”.
• Expansion of Science Park and development of new educational and recreational infrastructure amidst lush green surroundings.

2008

Major renovation of “Fluidics Gallery” completed with upgraded exhibits demonstrating the principles and applications of fluid science.

2009

Inauguration of “Wonder World of Materials Gallery” on 19th December featuring interactive exhibits on material science and modern technologies.

2012

Inauguration of gallery “Water Our Life” on 24th December highlighting water conservation, environment and sustainable development.

2015

Development of Mobile Science Exhibition unit “Understanding Mathematics” with interactive exhibits for outreach activities in schools and rural areas.

2016

• Establishment of “Innovation Hub” on 4th January to encourage creativity, innovation and scientific experimentation among students and young learners.
• Inauguration of “Children Gallery” on 14th November with activity-based exhibits specially designed for young visitors.

2019

Development of new Mobile Science Exhibition units “Energy: The Lifeline of Mankind” and “Energy: Machines in Everyday Life” to strengthen outreach activities and science communication programmes.

2020

Inauguration of “Sports & Fitness Gallery” on 20th February focusing on sports science, physical fitness and human performance through interactive exhibits.

2024

• Strengthening of educational outreach programmes including science workshops, innovation activities, sky observation sessions, National Science Day celebrations and thematic science exhibitions for students and teachers across Uttar Pradesh.
• Expansion of public engagement initiatives through social awareness programmes, environmental campaigns and science communication activities.

2025

• Development and public opening of the “Prehistoric Life Park” featuring life-size dinosaur models and an immersive light and sound show for science education and visitor engagement.
• The upgraded SCIMAX Theatre was inaugurated on 12th December 2025 by Shri Jaiveer Singh, Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

2026

Inauguration of “Knowledge on Sphere” facility on 28th January introducing advanced spherical projection technology for immersive learning on Earth systems, astronomy, climate and planetary science.
